About Me – Vesselina Iv. Dimova
Yes, I am a doctor, but doctor of science, and not a medical doctor, therefore, I can not give you medical advice! However, following my academic and professional career in different European countries, including Great Britain, I have been a foreign patient in The United Kingdon and three other countries for over 12 years, so I know how you feel and what you need! I even have been the relative whose beloved has been sick abroad as my dear mum had been admitted by an emergency in hospital in Surry. Being a medical doctor herself, she was very much aware of her health condition…she does not speak English…and she had only me! Having lived for sixteen years in six European countries I am aware of the mentality and expectations of both the foreign patients and the Bulgarian health providers, which enables me to mediate and make the appropriate modifications so the clients receive the service they are accustom to.
The idea of creating a medical tourism facilitator company, which meets all the needs I had as a patient gradually took shape. As it often happens in life, a combination of circumstances came together at the right moment, and I put on hold my previous successful career to dedicate my time for the new challenge to run my own business in the very sensitive area of human health.
In the late 90s, I met my dear orthopaedic doctor who in my childhood cured my knees of a serious sportive trauma, thus gifted me the freedom to live the life I wanted. Looking at an adult already, he was curious to know who I had become. I proudly said that I am a professor and a scientist-theoretician. A snap reply: “Aha, like all those who write articles on orthopaedics…but the patients come to me, and I have to find a way to cure them”. This was the first time I realised how privileged my job was, since I had my hobby that was indulging my inner need to learn new things every day, as my profession. This sentence planted the seed of the need to be engaged in something that is of immediate benefit to other people. I would like to think that throughout my life I have lived to that resolution, sometimes more intensively, than others.
That event and the lifelong memory and gratitude to that noble doctor, together with the extensive experience of being a patient abroad, guided me through establishing and conducting this enterprise. No doubt a competent doctor, correct diagnosis, perfect performed surgery and rehabilitation come first. However, healing goes beyond the medical aspect. One has to cope during sickness with emotions, uncertainties and fears. Then, oncе cured the emotions need to be wrapped up nicely and let them stay in the past and only seldom echo the present moment. Everyone appreciate help in this difficult time. I right, humanistic, sentence can help enormously and support you throughout your life. I am determined to efficiently complement your medical cure.
As a nature lover, I admire its laws and believe that our human society should comply with them. Everything we do, that includes all aspects of any enterprise, should be ethical and humanistic.
